If the Nickname you choose is already in use, choose a new nick while in chat by typing:
/nick
newnickname
You can private message or 'Query' other people by typing:
/msg
friendsnick
text of message
You can
join other channels
(like channel #News for headlines) while in chat by typing:
/join #news
(or some other channel)
Use the Status and Channel buttons/boxes at the top of the chat window to navigate your channels. Options are also available.
